V2 Black Cerakote in Aluminum 6061

The long awaited Aluminum Version!

Why an aluminum version? For a few reasons, one being the cost and low machining time. The other is the weight and durability. Sure it’s not titanium but with a Cerakoted quick release there should be no reason you couldn’t use this for the rest of your life. Aside from losing it or running it over with a 10,000 lb forklift… yes it’s happened. Yes I replaced it!

Aluminum is a soft non ferrous metal that in many ways is great for EDC items. It’s light weight, fairly strong, and can be machined into all kinds of shapes! Wear factor is low compared to titanium or brass but lets be honest, are you as tough on your gear as I am? I punish my products when testing. I run them over with my truck, I’ve shot them with a gun, smashed them with a hammer, submerged them in different chemicals, and tested them with all kinds of different key fobs to make sure they don’t mess with their function. The aluminum version won’t hold up to being ran over like the titanium versions so try to avoid that!

After testing the cerakote process on my Titanium versions I was hoping it would work out on the aluminum. As expected it’s a great finish. Super tough and chemical resistant. The problem lies with the aluminum. It’s a soft metal so anything strong enough to scratch aluminum can remove the finish. My thinking is who doesn’t like something with that battle worn look? After a while it will become your very own and show off how much you use your stuff.

There’s a small batch currently in my shop so be quick if you want one. I’m sure I’ll do more in the future but it’s time consuming and a little messy so I have to be in the right mind and have plenty of extra time. Who has extra time??

Thanks everyone for the continued support. It’s great to be apart of such an awesome community!
